Newsies

The first thing I noticed in this one was the familiar faces that will show back up in The Mighty Ducks. It had to be annoying for the guys that write up the headlines on the giant chalkboard that a kid just comes up and writes “STRIKE” across their hard work. I find it interestingContinue reading “Newsies”

The Rocketeer

The full Rocketeer costume is giving me Mandolorian/Boba Fett vibes. What were the chances they’d crash planes into gasoline tankards twice? If you watch this and think the singer in the restaurant looks familiar, it is Melora Hardin from The Office. I don’t have much to say about this one. It was an ok movie.

Wild Hearts Can’t Be Broken

I wasn’t expecting Jazz music as the intro music but it does set the tone of the era in which the movie is set. I literally gasped when she started to cut her own hair. Her aunt is messed up to make her put a bag over her head just because of a haircut. IContinue reading “Wild Hearts Can’t Be Broken”

Shipwrecked

I feel like we had enough pirate and shipwreck movies in the 60s and 70s but here we are. The movie is titled Shipwrecked but the actual shipwreck doesn’t happen until halfway through the movie. The kid is pretty savvy when he’s on the island alone. He got the coconut and the water in itContinue reading “Shipwrecked”

White Fang

This was the first movie with animals with a disclaimer stating that all the animals were trained and treated humanely. I feel like many other kids read this book in middle school which was only a few years after the movie came out. I about had a heart attack when I thought the wolf pup was strangledContinue reading “White Fang”

Honey, I Shrunk the Kids

Ugh, the opening credits are back but at least these were entertaining. However, they basically give you the entire plot of the movie. Ah, the olden days of getting wrapped up in a phone cord while chatting. They spent a lot of time in the backyard. I thought they spent more time in the house but I think I’mContinue reading “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids”

Return to Snowy River

So are you thinking how do we return to Snowy River if Disney never took us to Snowy River? You’d be somewhat correct. The original movie was released by another production company. For this sequel, the production company brought on Walt Disney Pictures to also be a part of the movie. I think the dad is a jerkContinue reading “Return to Snowy River”

Benji the Hunted

This is the first movie I noticed to have the modern Walt Disney Pictures intro with the castle and Tinkerbell. If you’ve been reading my post for a while, I think I’ve made it quite known how I feel about narrated animal movies. However, I wanted to have an open mind about this one because I rememberContinue reading “Benji the Hunted”

Flight of the Navigator

I remember the ship from the Back Lot Tour in Hollywood Studios. I think I saw this when I was younger but I didn’t remember a lot of the storyline. Young SJP (Sarah Jessica Parker) basically looks the same as she does today except for the purple in her hair. David was only in theContinue reading “Flight of the Navigator”

One Magic Christmas

I watched this one the day after Halloween. I hadn’t planned on starting to watch Christmas movies this soon but oh well. It stars Mary Steenburgen from Step Brothers and Zoeey’s Extraordinary Playlist. The actress who plays the daughter will come back to Disney a decade later to be the title character in My DateContinue reading “One Magic Christmas”
